Use the directions link, enter your address and check the route at the hour you plan to leave on class day.
Downtown Roswell hosts frequent Roswell365 events, and Canton Street can get busy on weekend evenings. If your class dates fall on event days, check the city calendar and plan to leave the historic district early.
Armed course students can find range details on each Bookeo date; range qualification is separate from the classroom. For session hours, call 678-878-3152 before paying the deposit.
Roswell's historic district and event life
Roswell started as a mill town. The visitor bureau describes the Roswell Manufacturing Company mills along Vickery Creek, powered by a 30-foot dam, and notes the 1839 Old Machine Shop on Mill Street is the company's only surviving building and now an events facility. The Vickery Creek covered pedestrian bridge, built in 2005, links the historic district to the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. Trails, ruins and event venues in one area involve patrols that mix visitor help with safety checks.
Canton Street, which the bureau notes is designated a Georgia Great Street, is lined with restaurants, galleries and shops. Dining districts get busy on weekend evenings, and officers there handle parking deck questions, closing-time crowds and incident reports that a restaurant manager can rely on. The city also runs a Cultural Arts Center and historic house museums.
The city reports about 4,720 businesses and a steady calendar of Roswell365 events and public meetings. The visitor bureau also covered a $4.5 million renovation and reopening of a local hotel. Hotels, arts venues and busy retail blocks all draw on the access control and communication skills taught in the Unarmed course.
Roswell's Lost Mill Workers memorial on Sloan Street marks the 400 women and children sent north in 1864, part of the history visitors come to see.
