For Sandy Springs students

From Sandy Springs to Duluth

Sandy Springs does not host an Academy classroom. Classes meet at 3250 Peachtree Industrial Blvd, Ste 201, in Duluth, in Gwinnett County.

The city stretches from the Perimeter office towers and Medical District near I-285 up to the North End, with City Hall at 1 Galambos Way in the City Springs District. Visit Sandy Springs notes MARTA rail serves the city, which helps some residents but does not reach the classroom door. Open the directions link with your address and compare driving and any transit option for the hour you would leave.

City Springs holds evening performances, a seasonal ice rink and the Sparkle Sandy Springs parade, which can affect streets around City Hall. Glance at the City Springs calendar if a class date lines up with a big event near your starting point.

The Armed course includes range qualification at a location listed for each Bookeo date, separate from the classroom. Call 678-878-3152 for session hours before paying.

Why Sandy Springs is a strong place to start in security

Select Sandy Springs, the city's economic development site, counts more than 60 million square feet of office, retail and commercial space and lists headquarters such as Cox Enterprises, UPS, Mercedes-Benz USA, Intercontinental Exchange and Newell Brands. Office towers of that scale run on lobby desks, badge systems, loading dock control and parking deck patrols, the kind of access control work covered in the Unarmed course.

The same site describes a Medical District with Northside Hospital, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Scottish Rite and Emory St. Joseph's. Hospital settings put officers at emergency entrances, visitor desks and garages, where calm communication and clear reports matter during stressful moments for families and staff.

City Springs adds a performing arts center, free concerts on the green, a seasonal ice rink and a holiday parade called Sparkle Sandy Springs. The visitor bureau also points to more than 950 acres of parks and natural areas and a weekly farmers market, and its calendar lists the Elegant Elf Marketplace with 98 vendors. Performances, markets and parades involve ticket checks, crowd flow and lost-person procedures.

The North End is the focus of planning for mixed-use housing, retail and office projects, so construction sites and new buildings can add posts that call for patrol and access control.

Sandy Springs FAQ

Sandy Springs security guard training questions

Still have a question? Call the Academy at 678-878-3152.

Q01Is there an Academy classroom in Sandy Springs?

No. Sandy Springs students attend class in Duluth at 3250 Peachtree Industrial Blvd, Ste 201. Range qualification for the Armed course is listed on each Bookeo date and does not take place at the classroom. Use the directions link on this page from your own address to check the live route.

Q02Can I reach the Duluth classroom by MARTA from Sandy Springs?

Sandy Springs has MARTA rail service, but rail alone does not reach the classroom. Set Google Maps to transit from your address and check each leg and connection for the time you would travel. If the trip looks impractical, plan to drive or share a ride.

Q03What security settings are common in Sandy Springs?

Office towers in the Perimeter area, the Medical District hospitals, City Springs performances and events, hotels and apartment communities are all settings where access control, patrol and reporting skills apply. These describe the local market, not openings, and training does not guarantee employment.

Q04Is the Unarmed course a good fit for hospital or office lobby work?

It covers patrol, emergency response, legal authority, access control and report writing, plus American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED, all relevant to front desk and campus posts. Employers set their own hiring requirements. The State of Georgia makes all licensing determinations.

Q05What are the course prices and the deposit?

The 24-hour Unarmed course is $250, the 16-hour Armed course is $375 and the 40-hour Complete Package is $550. You pay a $100 non-refundable deposit when you book in Bookeo, with Square handling checkout, and the remaining $150, $275 or $450 when you attend.

Q06Where should a first-time student start?

The 24-hour Unarmed course is the usual first step. It teaches patrol, emergency response, legal authority, access control and report writing, and includes American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED. Students 21 or older who plan on armed work can choose the 40-hour Complete Package, which saves $75 compared with booking both courses separately.

Q07Is there a minimum age for the Armed course?

Yes, 21. Georgia's Board requires armed security licensees to be at least 21, and armed registration goes through a licensed security employer, so finishing the course does not by itself allow you to work armed. Read the requirements on the Bookeo listing for your course before reserving.

Q08Will I leave with a security license?

No. The Academy delivers state-required training. Successful Unarmed students receive a Certificate of Completion, and the Armed course provides firearms training and qualification documentation used in the state process. The State of Georgia makes all licensing determinations, so completion is not an automatic license.
