Fulton County was formed from DeKalb County in 1853 and consolidated with Milton and Campbell counties in 1932, which gives it its long, narrow shape. The county covers 528.7 square miles. County government groups North Fulton as Johns Creek, Milton, Sandy Springs, Alpharetta, Roswell and Mountain Park, and South Fulton as College Park, East Point, Fairburn, Hapeville, Palmetto, the City of South Fulton, Chattahoochee Hills and Union City. The City of Atlanta lies between them.
That split shapes how Fulton students plan training. A student in Johns Creek and a student in Palmetto live in the same county but face very different trips to Duluth, so the Academy does not quote one travel estimate for Fulton. Each city guide links live directions from that city instead.
North Fulton cities such as Johns Creek and Alpharetta sit close to the Gwinnett line, while Atlanta and the South Fulton cities are farther from Duluth and usually cross the core of the metro.
