For Palmetto students Palmetto to the Duluth classroom
Palmetto spans two counties. The city's own voting page tells residents to check whether they vote in Fulton or Coweta, and the state-filed comprehensive plan says the city lies in both. Fulton is the grouping used on this site, but Coweta-side residents are just as welcome, and the training location is the same for everyone: 3250 Peachtree Industrial Blvd, Ste 201, in Duluth.
The city says it sits on U.S. Highway 29 and the Atlanta and West Point rail line. Whether you start near City Hall on Toombs Street, the historic depot on Main Street or a subdivision on the Coweta side, put your own address in the directions link and check the route for the hour you would leave on class day.
Armed students should read the range details on each Bookeo date, since range qualification is separate from the classroom. Call 678-878-3152 if you need session hours before paying.
A small railroad city with steady security needs
Palmetto's history page traces the town to Johnson's Store in Coweta County in 1833, a name change to Palmetto in 1847 and a state charter in 1854. The area moved into Fulton County when Campbell County was abolished in 1932. The city also notes it sits on the highest point between Atlanta and New Orleans, on a watershed divide where rain east of the rail line drains to the Flint River and rain to the west drains to the Chattahoochee.
Community life centers on a handful of city buildings. The Historic Train Depot banquet hall holds 90 people and has a back deck at eye level with passing trains, the Palmetto Community Center beside Wayside Park holds 100, and the Concheta A. Carter Recreation Center hosts smaller gatherings. Rentals require a renter age 21 or older. Receptions, reunions and meetings in rented halls involve door control, parking help and closing checks at the end of the night.
For a new officer, a smaller city means posts are often solo: one officer watching a hall, a lot or a neighborhood entrance. That makes the report writing, legal authority and emergency response parts of the Unarmed course central, because there may be nobody else on site to fill in the details.
