For East Point students Training for East Point residents
The Academy does not run classes in East Point. The classroom is in Duluth, Gwinnett County, at 3250 Peachtree Industrial Blvd, Ste 201. East Point's city site highlights its access to the airport, highways and MARTA, but none of that changes where class meets, so the commute deserves a real check.
Starting points vary a lot here. The city describes walkable streets of bungalows and cottages around downtown, larger brick ranch homes farther out, and newer construction in other neighborhoods, plus the Camp Creek Parkway corridor. Each of those reaches the interstate differently. Put your own address into the directions link and check the route for the actual departure time on a class day, not a quiet Sunday.
If you register for Armed or Complete, range qualification takes place where the Bookeo listing says, not at the classroom. Call 678-878-3152 before paying the deposit if you need the session hours to judge the trip.
East Point's sectors and what officers do there
East Point was chartered in 1887 and, by the city's count, has more than 38,000 residents and over 17,000 households, which makes it the sixth largest city in Fulton County. The city lists Camp Creek Marketplace, Camp Creek Business Center and South Meadow Business Park among its commercial anchors, along with several Fortune 500 companies.
The Camp Creek corridor grew out of a 2001 redevelopment plan to turn I-285 and Camp Creek Parkway into a commercial gateway, and the city paid off that tax allocation district early, in February 2022. Big shopping centers and business parks on a corridor like that are where officers handle parking lot patrols, support store managers with loss concerns and write the reports that follow an incident.
Downtown East Point gets busier on event days. The city calendar shows the weekly Eats & Beats farmers market, and its about page names The Taste of East Point, Destination East Point and a Fourth of July fireworks celebration. Sumner Park holds a banked concrete velodrome, and the city points to the Fort McPherson studio complex as a growth driver. Festivals and production sites both use officers for perimeter control, sign-in logs and crowd guidance.
East Point's neighborhoods also matter. The city describes historic bungalows near downtown and larger homes farther out, so residential patrol can mean anything from a walkable block to a quiet cul-de-sac.
