For Atlanta students

Security guard training for Atlanta, held in Duluth

There is no Academy classroom inside the Atlanta city limits. Classes are held at the Academy's training location, 3250 Peachtree Industrial Blvd, Ste 201, in Duluth, whether you live in Midtown, West End, Buckhead or East Atlanta. The Armed course includes live-fire range qualification; check the Bookeo listing for your date for range details before you book.

How long the trip takes depends on where in Atlanta you start, the day, and the hour you leave. We don't quote one number for a city this size. Open the directions link on this page from your own address before you book, check the route at the time you would actually leave for class, and plan to arrive early on the first day.

If the commute is the only thing stopping you, call the Academy line before you pay the deposit. Staff can tell you the session hours listed for the date you are looking at so you can judge the trip.

Why Atlanta security training is worth the trip

Downtown Atlanta packs large venues into a few blocks. The Georgia World Congress Center, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Centennial Olympic Park and the Signia by Hilton Atlanta hotel sit on one connected campus. Places like that run on access control, crowd flow, incident reports and calm radio communication, which are the same topics the 24-hour unarmed course covers.

Midtown adds another layer. The Midtown Alliance calendar lists concerts at Atlanta Symphony Hall, its annual meeting at the Fox Theatre, and markets and parades on Midtown Green. South of downtown, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is a Department of Aviation operation owned by the City of Atlanta, built around safe operations and steady passenger flow, the kind of setting where screening, posts and reports have to be done right every shift.

Picture one Downtown event day as a training exercise. Guests arrive at the Georgia World Congress Center on Andrew Young International Blvd NW, cross Centennial Olympic Park, and line up at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on AMB Drive NW, while hotel guests walk through the connected Signia by Hilton on Northside Drive NW. An officer on that campus might check credentials at one door, point lost visitors toward the right gate, radio a medical call, and then write the incident up before the shift ends. Georgia's 24-hour basic curriculum names those exact skills: patrol and reporting, incident response and crowd evacuation, access control and CCTV, public relations and communication, and a first aid overview. In Midtown, an outdoor market on Midtown Green at 98 14th Street asks for the same habits in a smaller, more open space.

These are the kinds of posts found across Atlanta that call for trained officers. They describe the local market, not placements: finishing a course does not guarantee a job. Private Eye Protection hires separately through its own application.

Atlanta FAQ

Atlanta security guard training questions

Still have a question? Call the Academy at 678-878-3152.

Q01Is there a security guard training class inside Atlanta?

No. Private Eye Protection Academy classes are held in Duluth at 3250 Peachtree Industrial Blvd, Ste 201. Atlanta students travel there for class. The Armed course includes range qualification, and the Bookeo listing for each date shows range details. Use the directions link on this page to check the route from your own starting point.

Q02How long is the drive from Atlanta to the Duluth academy?

It depends on where in Atlanta you start and when you leave, so we don't publish one drive time. Open the Google Maps directions link on this page from your address at the hour you would head to class. If timing matters, call 678-878-3152 to confirm the session hours for your date before you pay.

Q03What kinds of security jobs are there in Atlanta?

Atlanta has event, hotel, warehouse, apartment and armed posts. Downtown's convention center, stadium and hotel campus, Midtown's theaters and concert halls, and warehouse sites around the metro all use trained officers. Training does not guarantee a job, but you can apply to Private Eye Protection through its careers page after you finish.

Q04Can I take classes around a job in Atlanta?

Check the session hours shown in Bookeo for each date before you reserve. The hours are listed when you pick a date, so you can match a session to your work schedule and commute. If you are unsure, call the Academy line on a weekday and staff can walk you through upcoming dates.

Q05How much does security guard training cost, and what do I pay today?

Unarmed is $250, Armed is $375 and the Complete Package is $550. Every course is reserved with a $100 non-refundable deposit through secure Bookeo and Square checkout. The balance, $150, $275 or $450, is due when you attend the training.

Q06Which course should I pick if I have never worked security?

Most beginners start with the 24-hour Unarmed course, which covers patrol, emergency response, legal authority, access control and report writing, plus American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED. If you are 21 or older and want armed work, the 40-hour Complete Package covers both courses for $75 less than booking them separately.

Q07How old do I need to be for armed security training?

You must be at least 21 for armed training. Georgia's Board requires armed security licensees to be 21 or older, and armed registration runs through a licensed security employer, so the course alone does not let you work armed. Check each course listing in Bookeo for its requirements before you reserve.

Q08Does finishing the course give me a Georgia security license?

No. The Academy provides state-required training and issues a Certificate of Completion for successful Unarmed completion, and the Armed course provides firearms training and qualification documentation that you use in the state process. The State of Georgia makes all licensing determinations.
